What You Can Expect
Designed as “Analog Sanctuaries,” our workshops offer a mindful space for you to unplug and recharge. Participants leave refreshed, taking home their own unique handmade art, a sense of shared creative joy, and the foundational techniques to keep creating at home.
[Class Ended] Summer Floral Workshop
Saturday, June 27
10:00 am - 12:00 pm
In this session, we focus on the "feathered edge" method to build soft, organic layers and create gentle summer blossoms. You will learn to tear and layer textured fibers to achieve a beautiful watercolor-like effect. Join us in this screen-free space to enjoy a slow, tactile craft and the simple joy of creating together.
Uchiwa Fan Workshop
Saturday, July 25
10:00 am - 12:00 pm
Practice the art of Chigiri-e by moving beyond the canvas to decorate authentic Uchiwa (Japanese handheld fans). This traditional craft uses hand-torn Washi and plant-based papers to create rich, textured compositions. You will learn to balance seasonal designs-from summer blossoms to coastal scenery-directly onto the fan's surface. This workshop offers a screen-free environment to develop your layering skills while creating a beautiful, functional tool for the summer.
Washi Ambient Light workshop
Saturday, July 25
10:00 am - 12:00 pm
Welcome the change of seasons by making a custom shade for a mini cordless light. In this workshop, you will use the Chigiri-e technique of tearing and layering Washi (Japanese paper) to decorate your light with simple autumn motifs like falling leaves or harvest colors. We will work with the natural translucency of the paper to create a soft, diffused glow. Join us for a quiet, tactile session to create a unique piece for your home as the evenings begin to cool.
